FILM + DIGITAL

Now you can make a phone call, send a text message, draft an email, and snap a photo all from the same device. Although, as convenient as that may be for us busy humans, it is an effortless action to take a photo with our phones. We do not need to know anything about the body of the camera, lens, ISO, exposure, etc. I never pegged myself as a photographer. I always absorbed my time in painting, color theory, jewelry making, graphic design, sculpture, etc. Until, I had the pleasure of really learning about the beautiful art of photography in my advanced History of Photography class while at Columbus College of Art & Design. I deeply fell in love and appreciation of the art form. I then took it upon myself to learn both film and digital photography. I am a bit of an old-fashioned soul- so I actually prefer the process of film photography, but love that you can apply the same knowledge into the modern digital approach. I think learning film photography has made me appreciate how photography has evolved over time. Especially now that you can take a decent photo with something as silly as your phone and you don't even have to change the settings manually. Pretty crazy to think about how far technology itself has come. There is definitely more to photography than what type of camera you use. Lets not forget about composition, rule of thirds, light source, depth of field etc. Now, am I the most qualified to really get into the ins and out of what it is to be a photographer? No. However, I myself enjoy the art form, love to practice it, and thought I would share a couple images I took myself while learning the art of photography. Enjoy!
